Harvard-Joslin clinical authority and BCG-trained medtech founder join as company moves into pivotal regulatory and commercial phase

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 13, 2026 — Apollon, a medical device company developing a needle-free continuous glucose monitor (CGM) based on Raman spectroscopy, today announced two advisory board appointments that reflect the company’s accelerating push toward FDA De Novo clearance. The additions bring together a Harvard Medical School professor who has spent two decades shaping how CGM is used in older adults, and a former BCG Partner who co-founded a Boston diabetes device company. Together, they form the clinical and commercial backbone of Apollon’s strategy for the next phase of growth.

Dr. Medha Munshi Named Scientific Advisor

Dr. Munshi is Director of the Geriatric Diabetes Program at Joslin Diabetes Center and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. An internationally recognized leader in diabetes care for older adults, she has helped advance the clinical adoption of continuous glucose monitoring in aging populations.

At Apollon, Dr. Munshi will advise on clinical study design, regulatory strategy, and evidence generation to support adoption of next-generation glucose monitoring technologies.

"Dr. Munshi has helped define how CGM is used in older adults," said Aram Hong, CEO of Apollon. "Her expertise will help us build clinical evidence that reflects real-world patient needs from the very beginning."

Laurence Alberts Named Strategic Advisor

Alberts is a former Partner and Managing Director at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he led strategy engagements across global markets, and co-founder of Cam Med (now Qlibrium), a Boston-based medical device company developing an ultra-thin insulin patch pump. The combination of elite strategic consulting pedigree and firsthand experience building a venture-backed diabetes device company is rare — and directly relevant to where Apollon is headed. At Apollon, he will advise on commercialization, strategic partnerships, fundraising, and market entry.

"Larry understands firsthand what it takes to build a diabetes device company," Hong said. "His experience will be invaluable as we scale our business and prepare for commercialization."

Building for the Next Generation of CGM

The advisory appointments come as Apollon accelerates development of Moglu, its needle-free, consumable-free continuous glucose monitor based on Raman spectroscopy. Unlike conventional CGMs that require disposable sensors inserted beneath the skin, Moglu is designed to continuously measure glucose without needles or consumable components. Apollon’s advisory board also includes Anthony Paek, founder and chairman of Lunit, a Seoul-based AI oncology company backed by SoftBank and publicly traded at over $1 billion in market capitalization, whose mission is to conquer cancer through artificial intelligence.

The company is advancing a clinical feasibility study at Boston Medical Center and is building toward an FDA De Novo submission. Its technology has been validated through collaboration with MIT’s Laser Biomedical Research Center, with results published in the Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology. Apollon holds 54 patents across the United States and Korea.
